Firethorn's Den

Of Mirage

in the clearing, I lay immobile
the sky was the color of black ink,
the rich obsidian of the abyss.
in the state of half-consciousness,
I felt the presence of her, my other-self,
whom I've reached out for many times
to help solve all my tangled matters.
her appearance puzzled me; I haven't
been bothered by anything at all.
she pointed at Orion peeping through
the branches of the trees, and told me
not to long for him for he's naught
but a foolish hunter, but instead I
should look to the Pleaides for wisdom.
she went on to inform me that I was
made of air, therefore, I am the air.
Venus is my ally, my powerful source.
I must set out to seduce the gods
and goddesses to draw out their
sensational inspirations, I will
rule the collection of all realms.
as I listened to her voice droning
like the fluttering of dark wings
against my bones, I felt myself
slip into the gap of nothingness.
my last thought suggested that she
could be the one and only who planted
black thoughts in Lucifer's mind
leading him to his downfall. will my
makeshift empire crumble like his?
