Firethorn's Den

A Novice

Like a dream your lips graze my skin,
Soft and teasing as not to frighten me;
As our hearts' rhythms blend into one,
A sudden sharp bite bends my knees.

I can feel my warm blood flow into you,
Pulsating to quench your thirst and lust.
You let me taste yours to seal my fate;
I shall hunt till eternity ceases to wait.

Then you lead me through a crowded city
Where people laugh amidst the neon lights.
My pulse throbs wildly in anticipation.
My thirst heightens beyond recognition.

But you lead me away as you would a child
Out of the city where dark shadows reign.
A solitary man is weeping for his lost love
Denouncing himself from the heavens above.

As I watch him, my blood sings longingly,
"Go and feed" rumbles from your lips,
And I rush forward to sink my teeth in;
To drink, thus to live beyond mortality.

As the man sinks silently to the ground,
I look back at you uncomfortably;
A smile lights up your sanguine eyes,
And you fade away with, "So, he died."
