Firethorn's Den

Of Marble

She watches over the grave
as if to protect the occupant
but I cringe away from her;
the knowing twisted smile,
the soul-searching, cold eyes,
the out-stretched marble hands
beckoning me to follow far
beyond the portal of despair
where I'll be shackled forever
until all hopes freeze in time,
until you cease to care and seal
the coffin shut and walk away...
